SOGOD, Southern Leyte, Philippines—Samar State University’s (SSU) Computer Engineering (BSCpE) students proudly hailed as the Overall Champion during the 7th Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines – Student Edition (ICpEP.SE) Regional Convention held on October 14-16, 2025 at Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Sogod, Southern Leyte.
Leading the roster of victories, Heaven Louisse C. Al-Ajlan clinched the championship in Python Programming, while the team of Dexter A. Abaigar, Lhe Jie A. Jabien, and Helen A. Andales also secured the championship title in Quiz Bowl.
The proud #Tradesmen also received various other awards, including:
- C++ Programming (1st Runner-up): Emmerson Luke B. Jaboya
- Breadboarding (1st Runner-up): Risajune B. Tenoria, Khent Harvey T. Cabanjen, and Denzl Jilian A. Hechanova
- Robothon (2nd Runner-up): Claire Andrie C. Padayao, Arianne A. Sabuco, and Crisha Olives V. Sapetin
- Mobile Legends (2nd Runner-up): Angelo C. Cuaycong, Rhian Christian A. Abaigar, Abdul Karem R. Pagsidan, Kobe Bryan O. Estorpe, Kenneth S. Dela Cruz, and Amiel S. Dela Conception
In the Mr. and Ms. CPE competition, SSU delegates also made an impressive mark, with Lee France B. Flores earning the title of 1st Runner-up (Mr. CPE) and Bubbles Jhun C. Marqueses being crowned Ms. ICpEP.SE.
Flores and Marqueses also garnered several special awards, including:
- Best in School Uniform: Mr. & Ms. SSU
- Best in Formal Attire: Mr. SSU and 1st Runner-up Mr. SSU
- ICpEP.SE – Region 8 2025: Ms. SSU
As champions, the winners in Quiz Bowl and Python Programming will advance to represent SSU in the upcoming National CpE Challenge.
