CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—The Extension Services Office of Samar State University (SSU), led by Executive Director for Extension Dr. Vivian L. Moya, had recently administered the “Tracking Progress: Monitoring of Extension Programs and Activities” in sought of valuable insights into the effectiveness of resource utilization, stakeholders’ engagement, and program delivery of the university’s community extension initiatives. The activity, participated by faculty extensionists of all R&E centers, was ran from October 1-2, 2025, at the SSU Main Campus, Catbalogan City.
The two-day program gathered faculty extensionists across all R&E centers clustered into two batches, with the first day featuring reports from SCIGCLG, RCCSI, CESTI, SIGISDAC, and SAGWAN, while the second day highlighted projects under CELL, ESRDC, CFARBD, and EVCCRD. A total of 56 extensionists reported on their respective projects, ensuring that all R&E centers’ initiatives were accounted for.
The presentations were followed by sessions for feedback and comments on pending and remaining projects, which encouraged dialogue among the implementors and the support offices. This monitoring indorses the university’s commitment to ensuring that extension activities directly benefit partner communities, particularly in the Samar Island.
This initiative reflects SSU’s thrust to link academic expertise with community empowerment, in strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by ensuring that livelihood and skills development programs contribute to sustainable community growth, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening capacity-building initiatives through effective extension delivery, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by supporting community resilience, and inclusive and sustainable development, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by fostering transparency, accountability, and good governance in SSU’s programs, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration among faculty, stakeholders, and local communities.
